Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser so it can remember things between pages and visits - like the fact that you're signed in. Similar technologies such as local storage work the same way; we cover them all here.

OctoSwim uses a deliberately short list, and nothing on it tracks you around the internet:

• Authentication - Supabase session cookies that keep you signed in. Essential; the app cannot work without them.
• Security - short-lived tokens that protect forms and payments against forgery.
• Preferences - your light/dark theme choice, stored locally.
• Payments - Stripe sets cookies during checkout for fraud prevention, under Stripe's own policy.

No advertising cookies. No cross-site trackers. No selling of browsing data to anyone, ever. If we ever add analytics, it will be privacy-respecting, aggregate-only, and this page will say so before it happens.

UK law (PECR) requires consent for non-essential cookies. Everything we set is strictly necessary for the service you've asked for - signing in, staying secure, paying safely - so no consent banner is required, and we'd rather not add one for decoration.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking essential cookies will stop sign-in from working, which is less a threat and more a description of how sign-in works.

If our cookie use changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. Material changes affecting signed-in users will be emailed.
